Unpacking and Naming Racism; Being Mindful of Intersectional Realities
A response to Yakata Nichols’ video and recent events surrounding RID.
I do not have the mental nor temporal capacity to translate this video into English at this time. I will circle back. In the meantime, a few starter resources for anti-racism work in the sign language interpreting field & deaf communities. Not intended to be comprehensive.

Workshops are a good place to meet and learn about this in accessible language and supportive environments. Here’s a few folks who do amazing workshops (some I’ve attended, others I’ve learned of by reputation). Reach out and arrange for one for your local organization.

Socorro Garcia on the intersectional experience of Deaf Latinxs with interpreting. The recent one hosted by San Diego Chapter of RID was powerful. I hope there are repeats and wider attendance.
